Gunnar Nelson vs. Demian Maia at UFC 194
The UFC fans have been asking for Gunnar Nelson vs. Demian Maia for quite a while and now they will get there wish. Gunnar will face Demian at UFC 194 on December 12 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. As the fans know both Nelson and Maia are high-level and decorated BJJ practitioners and if this fight hits the ground it could turn into a grappling exchange for the ages.
Nelson vs. Maia joins an already interesting card that includes Gunnar's team mate Conor McGregor who will finally face the Jose Aldo for the Featherweight title in the main event and middleweight titleholder Chris Weidman will defend his mw title against Luke Rockhold. So like at UFC 189 two titles will be on the line at UFC 194.
Maia has been on a tear winning his last three fight including a win over previously undefeated prospect Ryan LaFlare and then stopping a 7 fight win streak of Neil Magny by submitting him after a dominating performance in his last bout in August. Gunnar on the other hand is of course returning after submitting Brandon Thatch in the first round at UFC 189 in July.
